Aligned with the theme, “What have I learned from the work of the poet?” Charles Goodrich, Clem Starck, Martha Gatchell, Penelope Schott, and Rachel Barton read from the works of William Stafford and Peter Sears at the annual Stafford/Sears Reading and Celebration, Corvallis Public Library, May 18th, 2019, from 2-4:30. Open mic after featured readers.  This event is co-sponsored by Willamette Writers on the River and the Corvallis Public Library in association with the Mary’s Peak Poets.

Rachel Barton leads a workshop on Creating a Chapbook at the 2018 Oregon Poetry Association’s Fall Conference, September 29th, at the beautiful Valley River Inn in Eugene, OR. Look for her in class or at the open mic. Her new chapbook, Happiness Comes, will be available at the book table.

Grass Roots Bookstore hosted the first annual Stafford and Sears Memorial Reading with Eleanor Berry as MC, Carol Hottle and Doug Stone reading from Peter Sears , and Ann Staley and Charles Goodrich reading from William Stafford. The audience continued the reading with more from both poets and some poetry inspired by them. Linda Gelbrich and Linda Varsell Smith from Mary’s Peak Poets helped to arrange this event.

HOT OFF THE PRESS: Happiness Comes via Dancing Girl Press! The release just happens to fall on World Poetry Day–coincidence? I don’t  think so!  My reading schedule will be posted shortly.

Salem Poetry Project at the Barrel and Keg (1190 Broadway St NE, Salem, OR) will host a cluster of readers  representing the second and third issues of Willawaw Journal. Marc Janssen, our host and a contributor will read with Rachel Barton, editor, and will be joined by Brigitte Goetze, Louise Barden, and Eleanor Berry. APRIL 26th at 7:00 p.m.  Come take a listen and enjoy the newly refurbished backroom! (Food Cart in back–drinks up front.)
